Classroom Operations

General Information

The preschool will be open from September to June, similar to the Abbotsford School District. In June the preschool will close a few days earlier than Abbotsford School District #34. The preschool will be open on professional development days as long as I am not required to attend a workshop. Generally, a 3 day notice will be given for schedule revisions.

There are two separate classes as follows:

  • MWF (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

  • TT (Tuesday, Thursday) from 9:00am to 1:00 pm

I am available from 8:30 to 4pm before and after hours. Please feel free to email me here

Ratio 10:1

All preschool classes are licensed to the maximum of 8 children, city zoning bylaws. I am fully qualified and will be in the class and outside at all times.

Special Activities

The preschool follows monthly themes. The equipment and the classroom are changed on a monthly basis. The children and families are enthusiastic and excited to see the new planned activities. On top of the daily routines, I offer library time once a week, and seasonal field trips. Each day a child will have the opportunity to be the special helper. Every week one child will have the opportunity to bring home our class “special stuffed animal” for the weekend. This will then be returned to class with a story to share with their friends. I offer an age appropriate phonics program that teaches the children through songs, stories, and actions. A personalized scrap book will go home with each child at the end of the school year.

Training

I adhere to all licensing requirements and regulations. I also attend ECE conferences. I am fully trained in Emergency Early Childhood First Aid.

School Involvement

Schools I am close to are the following: Prince Charles Elementary, Thomas Swift Elementary, Sandy Hill and Margaret Stenerson. Others schools about a 10-12 minute drive are: McMillian Elementary and Auguston Elementary.

Parents look on your catchment school calendar to see what family events and activities that you can participate in as well as attend.

Children Who Require Extra Support

Seven dwarfs preschool believes that every child, no matter what their abilities should be allowed to be included in a preschool program. I feel that every child is special regardless of their abilities. In most cases an assistant will be provided from Supported Child Care as necessary.

Sign Language

I teach some basic signs to the preschool children as another way to communicate, to enhance their learning of another language, and to promote children to include everyone even if we do things a little bit differently.
